Dawn Run is the only horse to ever complete the “Cheltenham Double” – winning both The Champion Hurdle (1984) and The Gold Cup (1986). This was a proper victory for ‘Irish Legends’ as her jockey was the talented Jonjo O’Neill – it is almost impossible to mention one without the other. Dawn Run’s incredible fighting spirit is probably best summed up by Lord Oaksey’s headline in Horse & Hound describing her 1986 victory – "‘She was beaten, – but nobody told her…’"
